HOW THE POWER PIVOT CAN HELP YOU

The Power Pivot facilitates transfer of persons with limited mobility from one position to another such as from a bed to a wheelchair. Without assistance, this can require an awkward lifting and twisting movement that poses a risk of injury for both caregivers and patients. When using a Power Pivot, a battery powered disk provides the rotational movement, eliminating the need for users to step or twist. A user first stands on the Power Pivot disk assisted by a caregiver or supported by a walker. While they are standing, the gears on the Power Pivot disk lock it in place to ensure a fixed and stable platform. Once the user is prepared to transfer, one of the buttons on the remote control is held down to rotate the disk in the selected direction to the new position. When the disk reaches the desired position, the remote control button is released to stop motion and lock the disk. A 180-degree transfer takes 7-10 seconds depending on the weight of the user. The Power Pivot is designed for portability. It is compact and lightweight, only weighing 5 1/2 lbs. It can be taken on trips to facilitate transfers to and from a vehicle or those at another location. The rechargeable battery will power over 50 transfers between charging. A convenient handle in the base makes the Power Pivot easy to carry and store. The handle can be used to hang the Power Pivot on a wheelchair arm or wall hook. The Power Pivot is also equipped with anti-skid pads on the top disk to help users stand securely and on the bottom base to prevent sliding on smooth floors The Power Pivot’s 18” base and 16” standing disk are sized to fit inside standard walker legs or wheels. This enables a walker to be used to assist standing and sitting as well as for support throughout the transfer. The low profile platform is ½” thick. Disk rotation is driven by a Li-Ion battery and motor, similar to ones used in handheld drills and drivers. This is proven safe and reliable technology used worldwide in millions of portable power tools.

USING THE POWER PIVOT

1. The Power Pivot is placed on the floor or ground below the assistant and in front of the person to be moved.

2. The patient stands or can be assisted to stand on the platform on top of the device.

3. Rotational movement and torque is provided by an onboard battery and compact motor.

4. Choice of rotation direction and start and stop is provided by a wireless remote control.

5. The patient simply can relax down into their new seat with the aid of the assistant if needed.

The Power Pivot:

  • Motorized Transfer

Power Pivot transfers are safe and easy thanks to its remote-controlled battery-powered rotation.

  • Easily Portable

The Power Pivot is compact, lightweight and features a handle so that it can be easily moved and used where it's needed.

  • Location Accommodating

The Power Pivot is sized to fit in tight spaces, such as between the legs of a walker. Its traction pads prevent sliding on tile and carpet.

Other Transition Disks:

  • Strenuous Rotation

Other disks require awkward lifting and twisting movement that is difficult to execute and can risk injuring patients and caregivers.

  • Bulky and Burdensome

Many other transfer devices are large and difficult to transport around or fit into tight areas.

  • Unreliable Capability

Other transfer disks are known to slide on certain surfaces, such as tile and carpet, making them dangerous in certain situations.
